Most of pre-season has been scrambling around trying to piece together a team and backroom staff. I've gone over my initial target of 22 players as all the players are signed on amateur contracts, I have been able to get together good squad without the constraint of trying to work to a wage budget. This has led to 30 players being signed, with 2 already shown the door after causing unrest by wanting guarantees about playing time. With the number of incomings, and a couple of outgoings, it has been a struggle in trying to settle for a first team that I will rely on. However, the results as shown below show that this has not been a problem when it comes to games. It seems as though the tactics that I set out from the beginning are suited to this level of football and we are dominating games as I would like. In the game against Mossley Hill Athletic I went for the more attacking tactic. This proved an effective tactic as they were limited to just one shot in the whole game. I then tested the defensive tactic in the game afterwards which saw notably less possession and shots, but we still dominated for the game which was pleasing. The only downside conceding two goals. With them only having3 shots on target the whole game is pretty typical of Football Manager stats so I'm no overly bothered by this. The game which frustrated me the most was the against Stocksbridge Park Steels Reserves which we drew 1-1. It really shouldn't have disappointed me as I had arranged this friendly, and the Ecclesfield Red Rose game, as tests against opposition in the same league. This was to see how competitive we would be going into the season. As both games were tight it is plain to see that the league will not be a walkover, despite the pre-season odds making is odds-on favourites for the title. We did dominate both games so the score line could have much different so it’s not something to be concerned with at this early stage of the season. Now it's time to jump into the season and see if we can live up to the pre-season odds. First up Burngreave away.
